Good news - Flood embankment for BJ on the way

We are delighted to learn that Nottinghamshire County Council is going to contribute £150,000 towards flood protection schemes planned by the Environment Agency for Burton Joyce, Gunthorpe and Lowdham.

The funding will be used to help support work at Burton Joyce (new flood embankment which will protect 307 properties), Gunthorpe (embankment at Cottage Pasture Lane and 40 individual houses elsewhere) and Lowdham (flood wall to protect 40 properties).

This is a really important step forward and the result of many years of work by our own organisation, Gunthorpe Environmental and Flood Alleviation Group, our County Councillors and Members of Parliament in association with the Environment Agency. Work is promised for 2008-9.
