Crock Dumble Pumping Station

The Crock Dumble Pumping Station project will protect house in St Helens Crescent area from flooding caused by water backing up in Crock Dumble in times of high water flow.  The work is being undertaken by the Environment Agency under Permitted Development rights, which means that there will be no planning application.

In September 2006, the Environment Agency told us that funding was available and that work would commence in the dry period of 2007.  But matters have been dragged out not the least by two rounds of consultation on environmental issues. The latest round of consultation ends on 3 October.  Provided there are no objections, work will start immediately after that date and last for 32 weeks.  We very much welcome this project – and now we have to hope that it doesn’t rain between October and May.
